Peppol in one sentence
Peppol is an international network and set of specifications that lets organisations exchange structured business documents (like invoices) through certified access points, instead of proprietary bilateral connections.
What is PINT AE?
PINT AE is the UAE localisation of the Peppol International Invoice specification. It defines the structured data (XML) fields UAE eInvoices must carry so that ASPs can validate, route, and report tax-relevant information consistently.
MD 64/2025 explicitly ties accredited PSP products to PINT AE and related Peppol Authority requirements (PDF).
Why PDFs are not enough
PDF / paper / scanned images may still be useful for humans, but the national programme cares about machine-readable invoice data exchanged via ASPs. MoF’s programme materials explain that eInvoicing supports near-real-time tax data flows and future VAT-return efficiency (MoF eInvoicing).
Corner model (simplified)
In the UAE Peppol-based model, your system hands invoice data to your ASP; the ASP validates against PINT AE, exchanges with the counterparty’s ASP, and reports tax data toward the FTA. Exact corner numbering is described in MoF / Peppol Authority materials, treat MoF as the programme authority (portal).
What finance teams should prepare
- Stable invoice numbering and document types (invoice, credit note, etc.)
- Correct TRNs and legal names for buyer/seller
- Line-level VAT rates permitted under UAE rules (see FTA tax invoice guidance: FTA Tax Invoices)
- Peppol IDs where counterparties are registered
- Exception handling when validation fails before send
